The Cash's Clononeen Farm is certainly one of the most highly respected and well known names, in the Gypsy Horse world. They strive to maintain the proud tradition inherited from their ancestors of many generations. In each generation, horsemanship runs deep in their family, with Dierdre and her brother Brian, now carrying on from their father Pat Cash, the heritage of producing some of the best horses ever known in the breed. The Clononeen name, is known for their superior stock, now found in all parts of Europe and the US. Clononeen horses have been many a cornerstone, for new breeders across the world. We happily hear, that now there is a brand new generation, waiting in the wings, to carry on the Clononeen tradition. Coming from Ireland originally, they are now located just outside the ancient market village of Farnham, in Surrey, England.

The Coates are a family of true Gypsies, who, for hundreds of years, have been involved in the breeding of Gypsy Cobs. Over the years the family has owned some of the best known gypsy horses in the world, including the famous Billy Boy - aka Christie, who is a black and white horse and a son of The Lob, that Albert Sr. brought out of Ireland years ago and there began a whole line of quality breeding horses. Billy Boy is still considered one of the "greats" of the breed. At one time, they also owned HM Queen Elizabeth's leading Drum horse, Galway Warrior. The Boss, The Business, Greyson and many more have found their way from the Coates to other breeders across the UK and the world. Albert Coates Sr. and Albert Coates Jr. are still a major force in the breed today.

HENRY CONNERS

Coming soon.

Syd Harker is a name known throughout the Gypsy Horse world. He is one of the most respected among the Gypsies themselves. He has owned and/or bred some of the finest horses in all of Europe. Horses like Penny, (aka Cassie), Polly, (aka Babydoll), and the beautiful Panda Rose are from his lines and found their way to the US. Many new breeders still base their breeding programmes, on his most well known stallion, known as "Syd's Good Stallion" or sometimes, the Franny/Frainy Horse. Syd's "Rose Line" is another bloodline that is known throughout Britain as being one of the best and some in the US. collect horses from that line to this day. In the world of Gypsy Horses, Syd is known as a true gentleman of the breed.

Tom's family, based in the lush green hills and valleys of Wales, are well known the world over, for their immense herds of well-bred, beautiful Gypsy Horses. The Old Horse of Wales, now getting up in years, is still producing fabulous offspring and his son Sampson and Bob the Blagdon - son of The Lob, are names we all know and sires of many of our best horses across the world. More recently, The Midget Horse is making a name for himself and all appear in many pedigrees of our horses today and are well known to the entire breed fancy. He has also bred and owned, some very famous mares in the breed - unusual since many mares in the breed were never really named or known widely.

The Vine family, is an authentic Romany gypsy family who have been based in the South East of England for over six generations. They have been established in Gravesend for 60 years. Michael Senior and wife Jane, their daughter Jane and son Michael, with his wife Lorraine and young sons Michael, Luke and Tom all work together day to day caring for and tending to the herd of 250 cobs all year round. Well known for many famous horses, such as The Lottery Horse and his son Nobby, Victor, Lloyds and many others, it is their family tradition, knowledge and passion for these horses which is passed down from generation to generation. The Vine horses have proven themselves in the US. and have formed many a basis for new breeders.

Fred spent his whole life living in a wagon and travelling around Norfolk and Cambridgeshire, and was a regular on the roads of Peterborough, Wisbech, Northampton etc. He travelled all year round with his herd along with him. He was known early in his life as Norfolk Fred. He was born in a wagon and died in a wagon, following the traditions all his life and taking his horses along with him wherever he roamed for 50+ years. He moved from grazing to grazing, moving on when the grass was low. He sometimes moved 60-70 cobs along the main roads and towns! He was one of the original, most respected and genuine travellers and a horseman of the highest order. Everything he owned was of quality and he had the Rolls Royce of living wagons and harness. He had some of the original horses within the breed which he made the foundation of his herd. He brought some of the breed foundation horses out of Ireland, he was the first Englishman to bring horses out of Ireland and use them in his herd. Such famous horses as The Lob, The Eagle Mare, The Original Old White Paddy Horse, Lion King, Old Pride, Mountain Dew, Gypsy Boy and others, were all bred or owned by Fred at some time.
(My thanks to Michael Vine, for relating the history of Fred Walker to me.)

PLEASE NOTE
If you are viewing this page on a wide screen monitor, any pictures might
appear wider and the horses etc. will be stretched, and unfortunately appear
a lot longer in body than they are. Setting your screen resolution to 1280 x 720 pixels
will probably correct the problem.
